Bucktail Deciever (Heavy Duty)

The Bucktail Deceiver (or BTD) designed by Bob Popovics is in my opinion one of the most versatile baitfish patterns ever created. Bob’s bucktail deciever is tied using collars of bucktail that embrace the natural flare of the material. With each tie of bucktail fibers get shorter and denser towards the eye of the hook to provide the perfect slender baitfish profile. These flies are tied on Ahrex SA270 Bluewater hooks. The 3/0 size flies are 6" long and the 5/0's are 8" long. The "heavy duty" version that you are viewing is offshore capable and is tied slightly denser that the "lightweight" version and features thin saddle hackle feathers and flashabou in the tailing sections and is finished with holographic tie in tab eyes. This version is great for striped bass, redfish, tarpon, snook, and offshore fishing alike!
